What are the placement tests and what are they used for?
Placement tests place entering students at the proper level of study in a given subject and may be used to award credit where appropriate. On the one hand, placement tests minimize the repetition of subjects already mastered and, on the other hand, they reduce the possibility that students might begin courses for which they are inadequately prepared. Placement tests may be taken only at the time of matriculation and each test may be taken only once. Certain tests are required; others are optional. The O-Book also includes the placement test schedule.
