What are the pluses and minuses of R/C electric off-road racing compared with other classes of electric R/C racing?
Pluses: • The jumping and sliding involved in off-road racing give it a unique, exciting character. • You can have fun just bashing your off-road racing machine around a parking lot or a grassy area, because an off-road racing machine has lots of ground clearance and a full suspension system designed for irregular surfaces. With two cars and two people, you’ve got a race! Some other types of electric racing machines can only be used on smooth surfaces. • An outdoor off-road racing track is not too difficult to build. So you can probably find a place to race that is not too far away, or you can band together with others and start your own club. • Some forms of R/C electric racing are motor and battery intensive: when equally-matched drivers compete, the outcome is often determined by who has the best horsepower rather than by who drove best that day.
