What are the potable water hauling vehicle regulations?
• Vehicles used to transport potable water must comply with the following regulations: • The vehicle or tank must be conspicuously labeled: “For Drinking Water Use Only.” • The vehicle or tank must clearly display the permit number on the side panels and rear face in lettering three inches high. • The tank cannot be used to transport materials other than potable water or food products. • The tank must be watertight, cannot leak and must not have signs of corrosion. • The tank must have an adequate bottom drain valve. • Filler lines and hoses must not contact water surfaces within the tank. • Filler lines and hoses must be capped when not in use. • Filler lines and hoses must be properly flushed before use. • Water used to fill the tank must only be obtained from an approved source. • An approved chlorine test kit must be used. • Chlorine or other disinfection products must be ANSI or NSF approved. • The operator must maintain a log documenting that the free chlorine residual of the wat
