What are the relay for life stories all about?”
Though attendance was down a bit this year, those participating in the Fenton Relay For Life, this weekend did so with heartfelt commitment and a desire to fight cancer. Patty George, of the Fenton Relay For Life, told the walkers on Friday that this year’s event marked seven years in Fenton. She said to date; Fenton’s Relay has had 243 teams, 2,589 members and 629 survivors. In the six previous years, Fenton’s event raised $676,653. “That’s pretty impressive,” George said, adding that though the dollars are impressive, it was more important to acknowledge those participating. Several attendees shared their stories of why they were participating this year. Hannah Delisle of Fenton, a cancer survivor, said her niece Joanna Foguth died after a two-year battle with leukemia. Delisle, along with several family members, including Joanna’s 13-year-old daughter, Josie, had their walking shoes on. This was Josie’s sixth year participating. She said she was doing it for her mom. “It’s fun.” Can
