What are the reporting procedures for rate and modification effective dates?
This field is numeric, formatted YYMMDD, and required on all exposure records. Normally, the effective date of the policy is what appears in this field. However, if the rate or mod changes within the life of the policy, then all applicable dates, and corresponding exposure record detail, are to be reported. The Split Period Indicator (Exposure Record, position 93) is also used in conjunction with mod effective and/or rate effective dates. It also indicates a change in rate or modification during the life of the policy. The Split Period Indicator is numerically sequenced by changes in these dates.
