What are the rules to slow pitch softball??

0

I play fastpitch softball but I umpire slow pitch so I hope I can help. The pitching style obviously is the largest difference between the two. In sp the arc must be between 6 and 10 feet-if above the guideline it is considered to be an illegal pitch, if below it is called flat. The baserunners cannot take leads or steal bases. They are allowed to leave only if the ball is hit or if the batter swings but they cannot go beyond 1 step from the base if the ball is not hit. The rules are basically the same for both tho, depending on the league. For a pitch to be called a strike it must cross the batters body between the shoulders and the knees and land behind the plate but not beyond the back of the batters box (correctly marked of course). If the ball hits the black part of the back of the plate it is also considered a strike. Anywhere else on the plate is a ball. It does not really matter where in the box the batter stands the main part of calling strikes is where it lands.
