What are the statistics regarding food allergies?
• The number of kids with food allergies has soared 18% in the last decade to 3 million children under the age of 18. • Children with food allergies are likely to have asthma or other allergies. • Hispanic children had lower rates of reported food allergies. • 3.8% of boys and 4.1% of girls have food allergies. What is ECISD Child Nutrition doing to help those with food allergies? ECISD makes every effort to accomodate special diets. All students who need a special diet, or a modification of food during school hours, should do the following: • Submit a written consent form signed by the parent or legal guardian. • Submit the printed Special Diet Request Form, completed by a licensed physician.
