With every forum, or bulletin board website, there is a certain structure. On Fraudwatchers, and many others, it consists of having Categories, Forums, Threads and Posts. Categories describe the main sections, or top-level subject containers, within which all user interaction is placed. Examples of Categories on our site forum are: General Discussion, Victim Support, News and Articles. Forums are areas that are placed within the Categories and “split” the general Category subject into several sections that are all related to this subject. These forums may also have “Sub-Forums” that server the same function, but are related to the Forum Subject itself, rather than the main Category topic. Please note that the term “forum” is also used in a slightly different context, in that a website that provides the opportunity for user interaction by means of a “thread and post” format is also collectively called a “forum” or a “bulletin board system”.
