What are zinc anodes and why do I need them?
A zinc anode is a necessary part of any salt free marine system. It is known as a sacrificial anode as the corrosive elements of salt water will be attracted to this zinc before the metal that the system is made from. It is essential that once a zinc anode has expired that it is replaced. Replacement anodes are inexpensive and easily replaced. Commercial systems available from your engine manufacturer may or may not have this important component.
