What can i use to get super hard water spots off of glass windows?

I put some white vinagar in a spray bottle and use as window cleaner except use crumpled news paper to clear away the vinagar. Then repeat using a quality paper towel. I let the white vinagar stay on the glass as long as possible avoiding this procedure in direct sun light.
