Every single one of the answers above me is flat out wrong (sorry to sound like a jerk, but I don’t want you to get the wrong information.) Many, many people confuse global warming with ozone depletion, but the fact is they are not the same at all. It is global warming that is caused by carbon dioxide and methane (greenhouse gasses) which are released by the burning of fossil fuels. http://science.howstuffworks.com/questio… Ozone depletion, on the other hand, is caused by chemicals called CFC’s. CFC’s have mostly been banned in rich countries, but they used to be in a lot of things, such as aerosol spray cans and refrigerants (freon). These chemicals get into the high atmosphere (stratosphere) where the ozone layer is.
