What causes the heart to skip a beat? Is it just anxiety or another cause?
One reason is the valves in your heart that are supposed to close to allow your heart muscles to move blood to the different chambers don’t close completely. This causes a little blood to leak by and causes a flucuation in your heartbeat. Another reason would be somepeople have a condition where their heart won’t keep the correct pace. That is what a pace maker does. It ensures your heart beat continues on it normal rate. Another reason is too many stimulants for your heart to handle. Drugs, nicotine, caffeine all can make your heartbeat irregular. Chocolate can also do it. The bad thing is that people often feel their heartbeat is not normal and begin to get anxious. Anxiety will add to the stress of the heart and can cause the condition to worsen and the patient sometimes can lose consciousness because of it.
