What cds should i use to back up my digital photos and correspondance files on my pc?

If you are just looking to back up photos/text files then CD/W is the most reliable. Ok, they are WORM (Write Once-Read Many) but they cost f-all and re-writables have already established themselves as not having long-term reliability and it is recommended that you re-copy them every 12 months or so if your data is important. Ultimately, the only really proven long-term storage medium is, sadly, paper (think of the Bible, Dead Sea scrolls etc). There are lots of examples of digital media that were thought great at the time and from which data can no longer be recovered either because of media deterioration or simply because the recovery technology has become obsolete or uneconomic.
