In terms of fats, carbohydrates, and protein: -The ER and golgi help to manufacture and secrete enzymes as well as other compounds that will break down food as it moves through the digestive system. -Lysosomes help to break down many different compounds within cells such as protein, carbohdyrates and nucleic acids so that they can be used for various processes. -The Golgi apparatus is involved in carbohydrate synthesis. -Ribosomes are involved in protein synthesis, using amino acids we have either ingested or using amino acids we can create from the essential amino acids we get from our diet. -The smooth ER is used for lipid synthesis, including storage of fatty acids and cholesterol esters. -The mitochondria help us to produce energy from carbohydrates, proteins, and fatty acids via the krebs cycle and the electron transport chain. -The cytosol itself also helps us to produce energy via glycolysis and can store many sources of nutrients such as glycogen or lipid droplets.
