What constitutes a “batch” for the purposes of batch testing?

To be in a batch, houses must be of a “substantially similar floor plan.” In other words, for single level homes they would be similar in shape and size. The way most subdivisions are built today, most of the single level homes have substantially similar floor plans, as do the two-level homes. Obviously, a 1200 sqft home and a 2400 sqft home would not be considered substantially similar, nor would one home with a single HVAC system and another with two or three. In this, we expect builders to apply the reasonableness standard; i.e., how a ”reasonable person” would react under similar circumstances.
