What could an abnormal pap smear mean?
I had an abnormal pap smear. And I’ve only had one boyfriend ever, so I was of course upset. I had mild dysplasia, which means the outer cells were slightly deformed. Usually, it is because of HPV, but in my case it was not. They ran 4 different tests, and it came back negative everytime. Therefore, it obviously has other causes. She ended up giving me this abrasive cream for the cervix, and I had to get a colposcopy. The next time I went to the Dr. whatever it was cleared right up. Usually abnormal pap smears are gone when they are re-tested, and sometimes they go away easily with medication (like the stuff I got). Either way, don’t be alarmed. The doctor will know what to do in the even your next pap smear comes back still abnormal. Relax.
