What data-driven changes have occurred over the past three years?
Student field experience evaluations, exit surveys, and follow-up surveys of both graduates and employers identified two areas for improvement: instructional use of technology and coordination among instructors. As a result of these findings, the GSE took initiative to address these concerns. In Summer 2008, considerable resources were expended to upgrade every classroom in the School of Education building to be technology-equipped learning environments. Our Director of Technology purchased new laptops and software for the Metropolitan Instructional Support Lab for classroom use, and several GSE faculty received Intel’s Teach to the Future training in Fall 2008. In regard to coordination among instructors, cohort leaders began meeting together to talk about their courses and program requirements and expectations.
