What degree programs are available in music?
Western offers the Bachelor of Music in Music Education which leads toa K-12 Certification as a Music Specialist. This degree program encompasses instrumental, choral and general music and will take about 4-1/2 to 5 years to complete. We also offer the Bachelor of Music degrees in Performance, Music History and Literature, and Composition, for students interested in these disciplines and who intend to go on to graduate study in music. The Bachelor of Arts degree is a 60 credit program designed for liberal arts students who wish to include music in their program of study. Students often combine this program with a major or minor in another field. The music minor is available for students who wish only a small componentof music in their program of study.
