What did people mainly eat during WWII on rations?
As a little boy I can remember the school dinners and whale meat was one of my favourites, and hourse meat. A green grossers shop would sell you cut fruit that was the bad part was cut out and it was very good. Rabbit was always on the menu and fish and chips with trip another nice one, but the one I liked was the offal called hoge staight from the suspan hot and on bread and marge, no butter in those days,you got half pounld of butter for a fammerly of five. but my mum give that butter to my dad.And it was a long time before I lernt the reson for that ,and it was to give the best to the worker so he could go out to work to keep the famerly. One day i saw a part of a fruit cake in what was then called a pig bin where you would put all your scraps of food.And there was no way I was going to leave it there.
