The ArcView 9.x with extensions (Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Geostatistical Analyst, and Network Analyst) 1-year timeout software ($100/year) comes with only 1 DVD. No data or technical support are provided. ESRI has an FAQ at http://www.esri.com/industries/university/education/student_faqs.html that may help answer questions. The ArcView 9.x with Spatial Analyst academic individual license ($250 for ArcView, $150 Spatial Analyst) is a complete version of ArcView 9.x with sample data. The academic licensing provides that the software cannot be upgraded and does not come with standard technical support. ESRI recommends that all ArcGIS customers download and install the appropriate Service Pack at their earliest convenience to ensure the highest-quality experience when working with the software.
