What do Summer Law Interns earn?
Summer interns who have completed two full years of law school receive the GS-7, step 1 salary. Students who have not completed two-thirds of their law school’s J.D. requirements by the summer of employment are paid at the GS-5, step 1 salary. Third year candidates who will be serving in summer internships between law school graduation and the beginning of a judicial law clerkship, fellowship, or full time graduate law program are paid at the GS-11, step 1 level.
