What do the daily assignment grades mean?
As for daily assingment grading, the system goes as follows. I will grade each daily assignment on a 0-4 point scale. If you do a solid job, completing the assignment in good faith, you’ll receive a 3. Assignments which come in late (without permission), show no effort to adress the reading or topic at hand, or are otherwise substandard will score lower. If the posts are exceptionally thoughtful, carefuly engage other’s ideas, etc. they will score higher. Thus, they are NOT to be confused with an an ABCDF grade. More than anything else, they are a way for both you and I to keep track of what you’ve posted (and what I’ve read), and whether it’s been of acceptible quality. Several of you have asked how you can get higher than 3’s. This is a little like asking “how can I write an A paper”–it is easier identified than described. Excellent daily posts are especially thoughtful, original, responsive (to the question AND to others’ posts), and without serious defects of grammer or readabilit
