What does an adult evaluation consist of?
Basically, there are three types of adult evaluations in my practice: neuropsychological evaluations for referrals involving assessment of higher level brain functioning (click on Neuropsychology for more information); forensic evaluations for referrals from attorneys and courts; and clinical psychological evaluations for referrals involving assessment of emotional and personality functioning. Most of the adult clinical psychology evaluations involve physician- referred clients or self-referred clients, who are interested in assessing the nature and severity of particular psychological symptoms or difficulties and obtaining recommendations for therapy or other follow-up measures. As with all evaluations, the assessment procedures vary according to the particular needs and issues of each client.
