What does DPF mean on some models?
A. A number of diesel vehicles on our fleet are now fitted with the latest environmentally friendly DPF systems (Diesel Particulate Filters). These filters are at the very forefront of technology and are in essence a catalytic converter for the modern diesel engine. As well as filtering exhaust fumes they can dramatically reduce the % of soot emitted from cars, thus having a very positive effect on the environment. FLEXXiLease is committed in its social responsibility and environmental initiatives, which is why we are actively promoting vehicles with DPF systems. However due to the technology and ‘optimum operating temperatures’, cars with DPF systems are not recommended for light urban users who frequently conduct short trips. The reason for this is that the DPF unit does not generate enough heat to perform to its required level and will therefore result in deposits building up in the filter. Unfortunately, the cost of replacing/repairing DPF systems that have become blocked are not c
