What does impounded, immobilised and forfeited mean?
A car is impounded when secured at a premises under the authority of Victoria Police and Victorian courts. While legislation enables vehicles to be impounded, it also provides police with the power to immobilise vehicles. This means a vehicle is mechanically adjusted so that it cannot be driven. Forfeited vehicles are taken from hoon drivers and are sold by the state of Victoria, which will keep the proceeds.
