What does it mean to live a christian life?
It starts with being born again. You come to God as a hopeless sinner, with nothing to offer Him, nothing to commend yourself to Him, but with a willingness to submit to His way of making you right with Him. His way is that you accept once and for all the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, come down from heaven, crucified for sinners; crucified for your sins; taking upon Himself what you deserved for your sins, so you could be freely forgiven and receive the gift of justification. You pray, ask Him to accept you, repenting of your sins – expressing a willingness to stop living for yourself and to begin to live for Him. He knows you are incapable of this on your own. It is He who then accepts you as you are, forgives you, cleanses you, renews you by the washing of regeneration – changing you in the innermost parts of your being, making you into a child of God, fully accepted, fully forgiven, with a clean slate; justified; which is to say that you are made to be “just as if” you
