What does it take to become a published author?

To become a good one, it takes years of hard work and practice (even if you’re a natural)…people don’t like to hear this, but it’s the truth. Or if you’re a bad writer who’s hoping to make it big the fast way, you might be able to squeeze in on a cunning pitch letter to a publisher. But assuming you were a good writer, and the book you wanted published was finished, your pitch letter to the publisher is almost as important as the work itself. You have to convince them why your book should be published and why the story is good enough, etc. There are sites out there that show you how to write really good pitch letters.
