Here is an image of a birch veneered MDF board. The circular marks on the edges are caused by a 24 tooth carbide ripping blade. Better edges can be obtained by using a more appropriate blade (see discussion on cutting and milling). For contrast, here is an image of veneered particle board. Notice the much larger and obvious particles.
