What does offsite storage mean?
Basically onsite means at your location, on your site of operation. Offsite would obviously mean somewhere other than where you are. Utilising storage that is offsite has its own benefits, especially if you need to ensure that you keep your premises clear and free of any obstructions, perhaps due to safety hazards? There are a lot of portable and mobile options that could make this a very convenient option for your company or business.
Due to space restrictions, not all of the Schlesinger’s holdings can be housed in our building/onsite. A portion of the library’s book, periodical and manuscript collections are stored at the Harvard Depository (HD), a facility outside of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Materials are retrieved from HD upon request through a delivery service. Normally, the retrieval time is less than thirty-six hours. There is no charge to readers for this service.
