Revalidation is the regular demonstration by doctors that they remain up to date, and fit to practise medicine. It means that they are allowed to practise not because they completed a medical degree any number of years ago, but because they are providing good care today. It is a renewal of the ‘contract’ between the doctor and their patients, based on objective evidence and a judgement of the doctors performance.
