Sustainability is defined as the ability to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. “Green” and “sustainable” don’t necessarily mean the same thing. Just because an organization is “green” (i.e. environmentally friendly) does not mean that they have addressed all of the criteria involved in becoming a “sustainable” entity. Sustainability is not just an environmental issue. It is also an issue of economic practices as well as social equity, each interdependent on the other.
