Effective September 2005, the law requires children who weigh between 40 and 80 lbs (18-36kg), or with a standing height under 4 ft 9in. (145cm), or under the age of 8 years to use a booster seat. Drivers who do not use a booster seat to restrain the child will face a fine of $240 and 2 demerit points.
