What does the monitoring program entail?
The beach monitoring program involves the regular collection of samples at the more than 190 beaches in the county, and the assessment of sample results in the context of appropriate state and federal standards. Samples are collected by Public Health Sanitarians and trained summer interns, and are analyzed by the Department’s state and nationally accredited Public & Environmental Health Laboratory.
