What exactly is aftershave?
After Shave is the weakest form of any fragrance product. It has only 4 to 8% essence. This was used in the early 1700’s and 1800’s after men were given a shave. The Barber would put steaming towels on the face to soften the beard and open the pores, then use alcohol to close the pores. This would leave a bad smell. This was over come by adding Bay Rum and other scents to kill the alcohol smell. Hence, the beginning of After Shave.
