What exercises are safe to do in early pregnancy?

Don’t do sit-ups because the pelvic floor is weak during pregnancy and you can injure yourself. Swimming is completely safe. You may like to avoid things like skiing etc where there is a risk of falling. But having said that, if the pregnancy is healthy you can have quite a severe bump in the early stages, without miscarrying. If you do have a fall in early preg, and it doesn’t cause miscarriage, then you don’t have to worry about abnormalities in the baby – if the pregnancy survives, it will be OK. Later in pregnancy it’s different. You can cause problems then with a bad bump. Even then, swimming is OK.
