Instead of investing in an IPod, unless you want it for other purposes too, I’d just buy multiple memory cards of the largest size I could afford. They’re small and easily packed. You will want to watch the X-Ray machines at airports for them like you do for other electronics. Many cameras come with a smaller size card and should be replaced if it’s found to be inadequate anyway. Below is a chart of the number of pictures/card for various sizes of cards and resolytion of camera. See if that helps. Use your iPod to listen to Coldplay! I found the ipod to be too slow. I got one GB of data transfer per charge on the ipod battery. Not worth it, especially given the hard drive failures on them. I decided iPod was not the way to go. I looked at the Canon media storage device M80 http://www.photokina-show.com/0427/canon/usbflashdrive/canonm80/ Expensive, but it is rugged and has a great viewing screen. It is easy to use, but because of the price, I couldn’t justify the price. Instead I went with the Smartdisk flashtrax. See review here: http://www.dcviews.com/reviews/Flashtrax/Flashtrax-review.htm
