To enable Windows guest customization, you will need to install the necessary Microsoft Sysprep components on the VirtualCenter Management Server. You can download the Sysprep package from the Microsoft website at: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/tools/sysprep/default.asp When prompted for an installation directory, select the following path: [VirtualCenter install directory]\resources\windows\sysprep\1.1 If you would like to customize Linux guest operating systems, you will need to install the VMware Open Source Components package on the VirtualCenter Management Server. The VMware Open Source Components installer is available on the VMware download page alongside the VirtualCenter installer. Once you have installed both of these packages you will be able to customize both Windows and Linux guest operating systems prior to deployment and/or cloning.
