WHAT FACTORS CAN INCREASE THE RISK FOR OVARIAN CANCER?
• Age: Women over 50 • Family History: Two or more relatives with ovarian cancer. Strong family history of breast cancer at early ages. Strong family history of colon cancer or endometrial (uterine cancer) at early ages. • Ovulation: Uninterrupted menstrual cycles (factors that interrupt ovulation can decrease the risk for ovarian cancer such as: increase in number of childbirths, breast feeding and birth control pills). • Fertility Treatment: There is some evidence to suggest that ovarian stimulation increases the risk for ovarian cancer.
