What happened to DMX?
Having gone from super duper stardom to then sliding into obscurity, one must ask, “what happened to DMX?” After logging onto Bossip this morning (it’s my guilty pleasure) I saw a photo of rapper, Earl Simmons, and a caption alleging that he had attacked a prison guard and could face up to 8 years in prison. The picture was frightening, not because DMX is scary, although sometimes he can be, but it was frightening to see how high someone can be and how low they can fall. It was the summer of 1998 in New York, and when the beat would drop the whole hood would scream “STOP, DROP, SHUT EM DOWN OPEN UP SHOP”! That’s how Ruff Ryders rolled, back when the LOX, Eve, and all those dudes on 4 wheelers doing tricks and stuff in the videos were what was hot in the streets! DMX was a multi-platinum selling artist, his music videos were everywhere, and he was compared to then reigning King of New York, Jay-Z. Fast forward to now Jay-Z is one of the most respected business men / mc’s in the industry
