What happened to my alliance and leicester shares?

It appears that like so many other shareholders you do not keep up with what is happening. The company was taken over by Banco Santander from October 10 2008, subject to High Court approval. You should have received information about this during the process of this takeover. You would have had the opportunity to vote for or against this takeover. Once the takeover was approved the company you held shares in will no longer be listed. If you never had any correspondence from the company during the takeover period, it is probably because they do not have your current address. Get in touch with the new company or with your stock exchange. Alternatively contact the the company that had your shares on its register. They should be able to tell you what to do. In most cases of takeovers either you sell your shares at the price offered or you are given shares in the company making the takeover offer. Hope this helps.
