What happens during cankles surgery?

Before your operation, the surgeon will mark the skin and any bulges which are found while you are standing upright with weight evenly dispersed between both feet and photographed to make a record of your ankles pre surgery state. This is done to assess after surgery the improvements which have been made. The surgeon will then mark the places where the tiny incisions are required for the injections of local anesthetic and the cannulae i.e. tubes used in the removal of the ankle fat. The incisions will more than likely be located around the lowest point on the front of the ankle and either side of the Achilles tendon. Then fluid consisting of a saline solution, local anesthetic and adrenaline is injected through the incisions to numb the areas of the ankle that are being operated on, loosen fat and restrict the bleeding and possible bruising. The surgery will more than likely be carried out whilst under sedation or general anesthesia, not just local anesthesia.
