What happens if my mac is plugged in and the power goes out?

Well, if its a desktop then it turns off because there is nothing powering it anymore, but if its a laptop then itll just stop charging and run off the batterie power it has stored up.

I’m assuming this is a desktop, with a laptop it would just stay on. If you’re worried about data loss…. the newer Macs use UFS+ partition scheme, which helps the hard disk in a case like that, and makes it easy to recover from a data loss that would render a Windows NTFS partition dead. However, it’s still not a good thing to just pull the plug on your mac. It’s hard on all the internal components, and can fry them. If you have a problem with power, grab yourself one of the $40 backup battery systems that office supply stores sell.

If it’s a laptop, it stops charging and switches to battery power. You would not even notice a difference if you were just looking at the screen.
