Rehabilitation of the soft tissue in a specific affected area, including stretching and compression techniques and in some cases an intense release of extremely tight bands of muscle which relax within 8-12 seconds of specific pressure. After a release, blood and nutrients rush into the area to bring healing and re-establish muscle tissue function. NM massage mimics an intense workout of hard to work muscles with benefits unattainable by a workout alone. Icing the affected muscles is often encouraged to prevent soreness.
