A12. It is not the previous district’s responsibility to make payment upon retirement of any accrued sick time after the affected employee has separated from that district prior to retirement. Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:30-3.2, the new board of education may credit the employee for unused sick time based on the new board of education’s policy on sick leave credit for all employees. The ECS or acting ECS should request a copy of the board policy and certificate of accrued leave if such provision is included in the new contract.
