What if the logging plan needs to be changed while at sea?
The Lamont Logging Scientist is responsible for seeing that the logging plan is carried out and must be consulted on any proposed changes. In most cases, he/she will be able to make a decision concerning a proposed change on the spot. In some cases (e.g., lost tool/source, abandonment of a site’s logging plan), a call to ODP Logging Services is required. In these instances, it may be necessary to also consult with JOIDES and JOI personnel, since these changes may affect the overall science plan of the leg.
