You can use.jpg or .bmp images for the edge detection, and then texture map with gif, jpg, png or other video or image formats supported by web browsers. If you want to use gif (or a different format than bmp or jpg) specify this in the edge detection but put in copies of the images in bmp format. The program will then use the bmps for edge detection but generate the output using the gifs (or a different format than bmp or jpg).
