What injections does my cat need to be able to stay in a cattery?
Well the easiest way would be to speak to the cattery you want to use – or ring around various catteries. But generally speaking, they will require a certificate proving that your cat has had her main injection (plus booster) – this protects against various things, usually including Cat Flu and Feline Chlamydia. I think that a vaccination against Feline Leukaemia is very important too – but this is usually optional. If you are in the UK, you will not need a rabies shot. As your cat is 4 years old, she SHOULD have had an initial injection at 8 weeks of age, a booster at 10 weeks of age, and another booster every year after that. So your cat has missed 5 important vaccinations. Now’s the time to get it sorted, before it’s too late. As your cat goes outdoors it is essential that she has these vaccinations – whether or not you decide to board her in a cattery. Your vet will explain to you what the vaccination covers. She will need to have one straight away and then a booster injection 2-3
