What involves caring for people with missing Limbs and Limb Differences?
This will depend greatly upon his or her total health and strength. Physical/occupational therapy or training may be needed to help you successfully use your prostheses, along with other devices to help you regain independence. Being a new amputee you may also need professional assistance with emotional adjustment to limb loss. For an amputee whose health does not permit the use of prosthesis assistance, mobility and transfers may be required. Generally this means to move your body from one location to another, such as transferring from your wheelchair to your bed. If you are a candidate suitable for a prosthesis several visits to the limb centre may be required to obtain a proper fitting.
