What is a banner program?
A banner program covers all the aspects of establishing and maintaining the ongoing use of the municipal banner system components by a municipality and typically, by nonprofit organizations and their sponsors. Where does the money to purchase banners come from?Ideally funds come from many sources. Some possibilities are: municipal/ community development budgets, locale chamber of commerce, retail donations, grants from locale or state organizations, rental of light pole brackets, etc. Should we have a banner advisory committee?An advisory committee is recommended especially when establishing the program. Some of the responsibilities could be: picking out the poles to have the banners displayed on, establishing banner size(s), serve as coordinator between sponsoring organizations and banner installers, approve banner designs, and market the program.
