What is a “built up” roof?

0

The term “Built up roof” is given to the tar & gravel roof system because the layers of paper, asphalt & gravel are built up during installation as opposed to a “Composite roof” such as asphalt shingles which have the same layers, (paper, asphalt, mineral coating), supplied as a composite component for installation.
